Ode to Renewal…Day by Day
(inspired by 2 Corinthians 4:16-18)

Discouraged we are not; rather, although our outer self is wasting away,
Our inner (wise) self is being renewed day by day.

For this momentary affliction of pain and grief
Will be replaced by God’s glory and relief;
As we go on day by day…

…we look not to what is in the physical plane;
but, to what is invisible (which may seem inane);
As we go on day by day.

For what is visible is temporary, transitory…
But what is unseen is forever, the eternal story.
As we go on day by day.

We are renewed with each passing day.
As the sun each morning lights our way.
And the darkness of the night before,
a temporary contrast, we can endure.

As we go on day by day.
