a tickle of words to create smiles

…With tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.

Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.

Colossians 3:12 NLT

It is with a heart that is filled with love in which one is able to shower others with mercy, kindness, compassion, gentleness, and patience. In order to have a heart filled with love (and joy), one must let go of past hurt, anger, worry, jealousy, envy, pride and all those negative emotions that stand in the way of allowing a person to be merciful and kind. I have discovered that when I am able to let go of my hurt and worry, it is liberating! I feel relief and I am able to breathe easier. All the pent-up anger or hurt in people’s lives simply fester and hurt them in the long run. Why keep it all bottled up?

Can you visualize your worries, hurts and other negative emotions as large soap bubbles floating away in a springtime breeze? Sit with that for a long moment… pause… and breathe in deeply. Meditate or pray on it. “Lord, lift my worries, anger and hurts away, I do not need them. They are weighing me down. Allow me to be filled with love and the Holy Spirit so I may go out and serve others with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Lord God, I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen” Can you feel the positive energy as your heart fills up with love? That is God’s love you are feeling. Amazing isn’t it.

Live as if…

“Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.” ~~ Gandhi

Live life to its fullest each and every moment. Savor every second as you take a breath, relax and enjoy. Do as much as you can to make the most of each and every day you are given because we do not know how much more time we will be given. Be deliberate with each and every thing you do such as: getting up in the morning, taking a shower, getting dressed, etc. Invite gratitude into your heart as you have been given another day to relish.

Furthermore, continue to learn as much as you can as if you have all the time in the world. Read, experience and master all those things that interest you and all those things you wish to explore. Enrich your mind with knowledge and memories. The more you learn and experience, the richer your life will feel. It is time to pull out that list of things you always wanted to do and learn, and do them. If not now, when? Yesterday is gone, tomorrow may never come, today is a gift and that is why it is called the present.  Carpe diem…seize the day.

Excellence is…

ImageWe do well in those activities we do all the time. Practice makes perfect. If you aspire to be an excellent writer, then write. If you want to be an excellent student, then make studying a habit. If you aspire to be an excellent dancer, artist, singer, teacher, speaker, or athlete, then make a habit of dancing, creating art, singing, teaching, speaking or practicing your sport.

It is as simple as that. You will see a difference in your abilities as your skills and talents become more and more refined through habitually engaging in the activities you wish to improve and master. Marva Collins said it best, “Excellence is not an act but a habit. The things you do the most are the things you will do the best.”

John 3:16 Day

March 16 is dedicated to the John 3:16 (of the Christian Bible) the most popular Bible Verse and one of the most significant verses in the New Testament. I am taking this opportunity to share this as it is one of my favorite Bible verses! God’s love is great. My heart is filled with joy knowing that I am blessed to be able to share this along with my love, kindness and compassion with each of  you. I have a profound desire to be an inspiration to everyone. It is amazing how interconnected we are and how much we can affect each other with the smallest of gestures. It is also quite empowering to know that we can choose to make someone’s day with the simplest of gestures of love…a smile, a greeting and loving words. May my words continue to inspire you.

A Day At the Zoo

It was a lovely day today, which made the visit to the Virginia Zoological Park amazing. We spent most our time in the Asian and African habitats. The Asian Tiger is magnificent! The Red Panda is adorable. And the African Giraffes and Elephants always steal my heart. It is great to get out once and in a while. Check out these amazing photos:

Dreams Choose You

Consider the following: ALWAYS trust your dreams. They have chosen you, as much as you have chosen them. Upon reflection, I see in my life how this is really true. I feel that every significant up and down in my life plays a role shaping my dream, which is to be an advocate of love and kindness, a source of inspiration for others and a champion of the tenderhearted. My dream has chosen me.

I had to experience certain unpleasant events in my life as to have a sense of what it was like to be bullied, emotionally wounded and be in a place of vulnerability, so I can relate to others who have been wounded. Take a look at your life and reflect. What are the repeated events that bring forth the strongest emotions? Do you feel deeply connected to these times in your life? Do they stir a sense of purpose in your life?

Does this in any way, shape or form point  you in a direction of your dream or your calling in life? Do you see how certain events have made you more courageous and/or more compassionate? What are those things for which you feel most strongly? How do these relate back to your childhood or more recent past? Do you see a connection between your dreams and your life experiences? Do you get a sense of joy when you think about your dreams? Trust your dreams and they will ultimately serve to bring you joy.

Imagine Your Future

All successful people men and women are big dreamers. They imagine what their future could be, ideal in every respect, and then they work every day toward their distant vision, that goal or purpose.
Brian Tracy
Live out of your imagination, not your history.
Stephen Covey
We are the creative force of our life, and through our own decisions rather than our conditions, if we carefully learn to do certain things, we can accomplish those goals.
Stephen Covey
I believe in the imagination. What I cannot see is infinitely more important than what I can see.
Duane Michals

The imagination plays a vital role in shaping the future of successful people. Inside every successful person is an imagination that permitted him or her to visualize his or her future. They were able to place themselves in their dreams, which in turn allows them to make choices and decisions that move them closer to their goals and their successes. Each of us can choose to open our hearts, minds and souls to possibilities or not. It is as Henry Ford stated, “If you think you can do a thing or think you can’t do a thing, you’re right.”

Consider the possibilities and have fun in the playground of imagination! What do you have to lose by seeing yourself as everything you hope to be for a few minutes? Place yourself a year or two in the future and imagine yourself in your “dream” life. What are you doing? Who are you doing it with? Where are you? What are you feeling, seeing, hearing, touching, tasting and smelling? Explore all your senses in your future self. Look back at your past/present self from your future self, and consider everything you did to get you to where you are now (in the future)? This takes practice, but once you make this a daily ritual, you will see events unfold before you that you probably never imagined before. Try and delight in this. See what happens. Ultimately, every choice is up to you.
