Cat Philosophy

AKO-CatPhilosophy

I recently watched an amazing set of lectures led by Dr. Wayne Dyer in Experiencing the Miraculous. I am certain the next few articles will be on what I learned and practicing. Today, I am sharing what Dr. Dyer said on the topic of happiness and synchronicity. He reaffirmed my belief of how our thoughts and imagination create our desires and happiness. When we think, meditate and imagine the life we want, believe in it with clarity, appreciation and enthusiasm, and live our life with intention, then happiness will naturally follow. As an example he used a charming little story about cat philosophy.

There was an old wise cat and a small kitten in an alleyway. The old cat saw the kitten chasing its tail and asked, “Why are you chasing your tail?”

To it the kitten replied, “I’ve been attending cat philosophy school and I have learned that the most important thing for a cat is happiness, and that happiness is located in my tail. Therefore, I am chasing it: and when I catch it, I shall have happiness forever.”

Laughing, the wise old cat replied, “My son, I wasn’t lucky enough to go to cat philosophy school, but as I’ve gone through life, I too have realized that the most important thing for a cat is happiness, and indeed that it is located in my tail.  The difference I’ve found though is that whenever I chase after it, it keeps running away from me, but when I go about my business and live my life, it just seems to follow after me wherever I go.”

In other words; as you imagine the life you want, take time to honor and appreciate what you have and continue to live your life, then happiness will follow. When you stay positive and visualize happiness as you live, then people, things and events will align in your life to promote your happiness. This is synchronicity. Furthermore, no dream is too big. Shoot for the moon and land among the stars.

So, I invite you to take a moment to imagine the life that will bring you happiness. Hold that image in your heart, mind and soul; and, soon you will discover that you do not need to chase after happiness, because as you live the life that you have imagined for yourself, happiness will follow close behind.

  1. I think you might enjoy a humorist’s (like Mark Twain) view on that philosophy: Be happy with what you have “cuz yo aint gittin moah”. Seriously, I agree that it is important to be thankful for what you have. Thank you for your daily blog.
