A Thanksgiving Poem: Counting My Blessings!

AKO-NewExp

Counting my Blessings!
a poem by Dr. Angi
(Angela Kowitz Orobko, Ed.D.)

I am blessed to be alive,
to have all ten fingers
and  to have all ten toes.

I am blessed to have
the gift of sight and
to smell wonderful fragrances
with my beautiful nose.

I am blessed to have
two sturdy, supporting limbs
that are attached
to my nearly perfect feet.

I am blessed to have
the gift of a caring heart
that is healthy and warm
and never skips a beat!

I am blessed to have
two strong arms
to hug and embrace
and carry a load.

I am blessed with
two wonderful hands
that allow me to wave,
to paint and to write this ode.

I am blessed with a great family:
supportive parents, a loving sister,
and an amazing husband.

I am blessed with all the people
in my life, from all over the world, the internet
and in my community whom I consider friends.

I can go on and on with an inexhaustible list.
But I know you get the idea that I FEEL so very, very blessed!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Grateful for My Feet (TY-4)

ako-oct18-2013

Dearest feet…you are so neat!
You take me wherever I wish to go.
You often do not receive praise; instead, you get complaints and woe.

Today, dear feet, I am showering you with love, affection and appreciation.
This blog is devoted to you, dear feet. I submit it as a dedication.

Peculiar and sad is the fact that I do not give my feet any thought until they hurt from overuse. I depend on my feet for holding me up and allowing me to stand tall. My feet carry my weight wherever I wish to go. They allow me to walk, run, hop, skip and jump. They help to give me balance, as well as, allow me to dance and prance.

I very much want to express my gratitude to you, my dear feet. I really appreciate you. You deserve to be pampered. Tonight, you are going to get massaged with lotion. I may even doll you up with a pedicure. Would you like that? Thank you, feet! You are super sweet!!

Time for Letting Go!

LETTING GO!

by Dr. Angela Kowitz Orobko (© May 7, 2012)

When you feel like you are in overdrive,
Feeling pent-up pressure, staying alive!
Then it is time for Letting Go!

Release, vent and breathe in some air;
Allow, permit, feel free to share…
Worries, fears…be gone, good-bye!

Invite in the love and the joy,
Positive energy, presently employ.
Embrace this time of Letting Go!

Stormy weather comes with its gloom,
But its rains help the flowers to bloom.
Mother Nature knows the wisdom of Letting Go!

Let go of the sorrows.
Let go of the fear.
With the tomorrows
Invite and choose cheer.

Now is the time for Letting Go!

Determination

AKO-Words

Determination by: Dr. Angela Kowitz Orobko (aka Dr. Angi)

From the first break of light
Into the dark of the night
It keeps me inspired
in my ongoing flight
of Determination.

From here to there
Or anywhere
My path is illuminated
by the gentle and strong air
of Determination.

The challenges I face
The goals I embrace
The celebrations that
will fill my space
is all due to Determination.

What is determination? I believe determination to be a firmness of purpose that focuses one’s energy to follow through on tasks, goals, intentions and dreams. Determination is a decision and a choice one makes.

Determination is often coupled with persistence, resilience, excitement, anticipation, and sometimes anger, especially when someone tells you that you cannot do something. It is that determination that makes you want to prove him or her wrong. The success you feel after achieving through your determination is often very satisfying.

Determination often comes after you have come to a decision about a specific aspect of your life such as a career or a relationship. I am determined to complete a much-needed book that addresses bullying in a very creative way.  I am determined to be creative and write a little everyday. What are you determined to do?

The Day Before Christmas

AKO-DayBeforeChristmas

The Day Before Christmas

by: Dr. Angela Kowitz Orobko

It was the day before Christmas
and all through the land.
People trying to complete
their last-minute Christmas plans.

Goodwill is around us,
if you open your eyes;
See people acting kindly;
it is Jesus in disguise.

Smiles and laughter
will rule this day,
With Christmas carols
playing along the way.

However, keep in mind
that a few souls will be
Not as much into Christmas
celebration as you and me.

A hole in their heart from a past
event that brought them despair.
Let us create for them new memories
and fill them with love and tender care.

Appreciate and value every
person that crosses your way,
Know them or not, express love
and kindness; make their day.

Christmas can be a magnificent
and marvelous time to bring
A new season of compassion and love,
let every bell chime and every voice sing.

“Merry Christmas to all and to all Love and Thanksgiving!”

Winter Solstice

AKO-WinterSolstice

Winter Solstice

by Dr. Angela K. Orboko

The shortest day of the year approaches.
It is upon us, the dark winter solstice.

Some believe this may be the end of human time.
I know it to be the start of new reasoning and rhyme.

Love will rule our hearts as we help our sisters and brothers…
Of every religion, creed, culture and color.

The power’s within us to create a world of love, serenity and bliss.
All we need to do is BELIEVE it already exists.

Welcome the light as we approach Spring and Summer.
Yes, I know, our kin are already experiencing it, Down Under.

Happy Winter/Summer Solstice!

DESIGN-ate!

AKO-DESIGNATE

DESIGN-ate!

by: Dr. Angela Kowitz Orobko

Designate a day….to play!
Designate a time…to rhyme!

It is your DESIGN!
Wonderful and fine!

YOU get to CHOOSE!
YOU can’t LOSE!

YOU get to DECIDE!
Time to abide…

and LISTEN to your HEART
That is the BEST place to START!

DESIGN-ate your time; don’t wait!
And do NOT hesitate.

Define your deeds.
Fulfill your needs.

There is a fire in YOU that burns within.
Ignited by a desire or dream, fueled by adrenalin.

Awakening your creative spirit, setting it free.
Your senses come alive, YOU will see

that  it is time that you get to DESIGN-ate
Why do you wait? Don’t hesitate.

Is it FEAR
at your REAR?

Let it BE
Set your soul FREE!

It is your destiny and  fate!
To DESIGN-ate!

Harm No One!

On this Halloween night, I hope everyone is taking precautions to stay safe.

Let us remember to be watchful and aware.

Equally important is for us to be kind, loving and fair.

Tricks and mischief can only hurt…

with evil intentions we should not flirt.

Treats always come to those who are kind and sweet!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
