Grateful for Earth (TY-11)

AKO-BiggerHeartSmallerEarth

When I think about our own solar system, only one planet out of nine sustains life! And, then I look among the stars and see all the billions and billions of stars (suns) in our Universe and wonder, how many planets are similar to our world? Are they filled with sentient beings and life as we know it? I am in awe with Earth and deeply appreciate all her resources and beauty. I am grateful for our magnificent world.

Earth is home not only to so many cultures of people, but also to a variety of life forms from single-celled organisms to towering, ageless trees. Organisms can be found in any environment on Earth, no matter how hostile it may be (such as deserts, arctic tundras and volcanoes), life forms have been found. Earth has nurtured all of us and she has provided for all of our needs. Furthermore, Earth is the only home we have; and, I intend to take care of my part of her. Thank you so much, Mother Earth.

Winter Solstice

AKO-WinterSolstice

Winter Solstice

by Dr. Angela K. Orboko

The shortest day of the year approaches.
It is upon us, the dark winter solstice.

Some believe this may be the end of human time.
I know it to be the start of new reasoning and rhyme.

Love will rule our hearts as we help our sisters and brothers…
Of every religion, creed, culture and color.

The power’s within us to create a world of love, serenity and bliss.
All we need to do is BELIEVE it already exists.

Welcome the light as we approach Spring and Summer.
Yes, I know, our kin are already experiencing it, Down Under.

Happy Winter/Summer Solstice!

Ode To Gaia

Ode to Gaia

Your colors are so divine,
With every flavor like sweet wine.
Abundant and bountiful are your treasures;
If only we use in moderate measures.

There is absolutely no need,
for the sense of lack, fear or greed.
You, dear Mother Gaia, are pure love.
Your gifts are everywhere, below and above.

You deserve so much in return,
yet nothing you expect just discern
what adjustments humans must make
to bring back equilibrium without mistake.

For we all know in our hearts that you will find
A way for life to go on with or without human kind.
Foolish people may continue to believe
That we can go on without reprieve.

We must always keep you in our embrace,
And stop all our shameful waste, a disgrace.
On this designated day, let us love and honor you,
In all your magnificent glory of green and blue.

Update: In my haste to post, Ode to Gaia, I forgot to tell everyone my sister and father had a hand in the last 6 lines of this poem. We co-created this poem in honor of Earth Day. Thank you so much for reading it. ♥

Nature Notices

It was a mild April day when my husband and I decided to take our puppy-dog Sasha for a car ride to the nature trail behind the local library for an extended walk. The temperature could not have been any more ideal. It was not too hot and not too humid. There were hardly any clouds in the sky and just the right amount of breeze.

As we walked with Sasha, we noticed an empty, discarded pack of cigarettes on the side of the trail. We could have left it there and take on the attitude that it belonged to someone else; or, the recreation department will pick it up later.

No, we decided to take ownership of the garbage and be good stewards of our little part our Mother Earth. We picked up the trash. A few more yards away, we picked up a discarded soda bottle.  Funny thing is that with a little effort on the part of those who left the garbage, there was a trash can 100 or so feet away that they could have utilized.

Overall, the trail was mostly litter-free, which made our adventure quite pleasant.  And, for our effort, my husband and I were rewarded by nature. As we continued down the trail an elusive cardinal peeked through the branches teasing us with its presence. It was like it was playing hide and seek with us. It’s beautiful red plumage was quite a sight to see in contrast to the spring greens of the trees and shrubbery.

Further down the trail, 2 squirrels were chasing each other in a playful game of tag or so it seemed.  The scampering of their feet created such a hubbub in the understory of the woods the trail cut through.  It was a delight to see them acting so carefree without a worry in the world.

Then a mallard duck made a brief appearance when a cacophony of 4 young boys on their bikes came rushing past us like a scene from “Stand By Me.” I wondered where they were rushing off to see (maybe a dead body like in the movie).  The boys voices carried through the trail; so at that point we did not see as many creatures except for a variety of butterflies and other flying insects.

Today it felt like Mother Nature noticed us taking care of her and in return she gave us a gift of seeing the best of Mother Nature.

IF YOU WANT TO CHANGE THE WORLD.. LOVE A WOMAN

Below is a poem written by Lisa Citore that was shared on Facebook by one of my friends. I felt compelled to post it here in my blog because it fits with my desire to change the world one heart at a time. Above is an art piece I painted inspired by her words. Tomorrow, I will share my latest update on my Gifts of Love campaign, which is progressing and unfolding in its own Divine timing, one heart at a time bring love and joy to each person who has received one so far.

IF YOU WANT TO CHANGE THE WORLD.. LOVE A WOMAN – by Lisa Citore

“If you want to change the world… love a woman-really love her.

Find the one who calls to your soul, who doesn’t make sense.

Throw away your check list and put your ear to her heart and listen.

Hear the names, the prayers, the songs of every living thing-
every winged one, every furry and scaled one,
every underground and underwater one, every green and flowering one,
every not yet born and dying one…
Hear their melancholy praises back to the One who gave them life.

If you haven’t heard your own name yet, you haven’t listened long enough.

If your eyes aren’t filled with tears, if you aren’t bowing at her feet,
you haven’t ever grieved having almost lost her.

If you want to change the world… love a woman-one woman

beyond yourself, beyond desire and reason,
beyond your male preferences for youth, beauty and variety
and all your superficial concepts of freedom.

We have given ourselves so many choices
we have forgotten that true liberation
comes from standing in the middle of the soul’s fire
and burning through our resistance to Love.

There is only one Goddess.

Look into Her eyes and see-really see
if she is the one to bring the axe to your head.
If not, walk away. Right now.
Don’t waste time “trying.”

Know that your decision has nothing to do with her

because ultimately it’s not with who,
but when we choose to surrender.

If you want to change the world… love a woman.

Love her for life-beyond your fear of death,
beyond your fear of being manipulated
by the Mother inside your head.

Don’t tell her you’re willing to die for her.

Say you’re willing to LIVE with her,
plant trees with her and watch them grow.

Be her hero by telling her how beautiful she is in her vulnerable majesty,
by helping her to remember every day that she IS Goddess
through your adoration and devotion.

If you want to change the world… love a woman

in all her faces, through all her seasons
and she will heal you of your schizophrenia-
your double-mindedness and half-heartedness
which keeps your Spirit and body separate-
which keeps you alone and always looking outside your Self
for something to make your life worth living.

There will always be another woman.
Soon the new shiny one will become the old dull one
and you’ll grow restless again, trading in women like cars,
trading in the Goddess for the latest object of your desire.

Man doesn’t need any more choices.

What man needs is Woman, the Way of the Feminine,
of Patience and Compassion, non-seeking, non-doing,
of breathing in one place and sinking deep intertwining roots
strong enough to hold the Earth together
while she shakes off the cement and steel from her skin.

If you want to change the world… love a woman, just one woman .

Love and protect her as if she is the last holy vessel.

Love her through her fear of abandonment
which she has been holding for all of humanity.

No, the wound is not hers to heal alone.
No, she is not weak in her codependence.

If you want to change the world… love a woman

all the way through
until she believes you,
until her instincts, her visions, her voice, her art, her passion,
her wildness have returned to her-
until she is a force of love more powerful
than all the political media demons who seek to devalue and destroy her.

If you want to change the world,
lay down your causes, your guns and protest signs.
Lay down your inner war, your righteous anger

and love a woman…

beyond all of your striving for greatness,
beyond your tenacious quest for enlightenment.

The holy grail stands before you
if you would only take her in your arms
and let go of searching for something beyond this intimacy.

What if peace is a dream which can only be re-membered
through the heart of Woman?
What if a man’s love for Woman, the Way of the Feminine
is the key to opening Her heart?

If you want to change the world…love a woman

to the depths of your shadow,
to the highest reaches of your Being,
back to the Garden where you first met her,
to the gateway of the rainbow realm
where you walk through together as Light as One,
to the point of no return,
to the ends and the beginning of a New Earth.”
