Grateful for my Family (TY – 6)

ako-oct22-2013

I am so very blessed to have such a wonderful husband and fur-baby. Today we had a super walk together enjoying nature and each other’s company. As you can see from the photo, it was a beautiful day.

I deeply appreciate my husband, Rick, who supports me in countless ways; and, Sasha, my fur-baby, who is more than a fabulous companion. It is important to reflect on the loved ones in our lives and acknowledge their time and gifts that they share with us. Our spouses, our children and our fur-companions each have very significant roles in our lives, which deserve gratitude. Every act that they do, which makes your life more joyous and easier, needs to be recognized, acknowledged and appreciated.

Sometimes, however, when we get caught up in our daily routine and stresses, we forget our loved ones. We take for granted that they will be there for us. While this may usually be true, there will come a time in our lives when they will no longer be with us. It is important to cherish them as often as we can, acknowledge them, appreciate them and love them. They are the ones who are important, not the work, the chores, the daily routine and all the other stuff.

Therefore, I am taking time to think about my family and appreciate them as I write this brief article to thank them. Thank you Rick and Sasha! You are the best part of my life!

Grateful for Sasha, my Fur-baby

Next to my husband, my parents and sister, Sasha is my life. Sasha has filled a void in my heart as I have yet to be blessed with human children. I deeply appreciate her warmth, her loving spirit and her playfulness. Sasha is my shadow. She follows me wherever I go; and, she knows exactly when I need her the most.

When Sasha was a baby (puppy) she would sit under my desk curled up at my feet as I worked on my doctoral dissertation. Currently, as I work on various projects she still keeps me company, but she has grown a bit too large to be under my desk. She does get as close as possible. I enjoy long walks with Sasha almost daily as the weather permits. As long as there is no torrential rain storm or worse, I will be outdoors with Sasha. Here are pictures of her enjoying the snow we had last year.

Sasha reminds me to enjoy the moment, to delight in running around outdoors, to indulge in playtime, to love and be loved, to appreciate the small (but no less important) things in our lives, to be genuine, to stop and smell the flowers and so much more! The lessons are endless. I feel blessed to have such a wonderful fur-baby in my life. I am grateful and appreciate Sasha.

She is a joy and a delight! I hope each of you have had someone like Sasha in your life.

Then and Now

Where did the time go?
You were just a puppy.
Now you are full-grown.

Where did the time go?
You were once small.
And now you stand tall.

Where did the time go?
Then you were so fragile.
Now you are so strong.

Where did the time go?
The puppy I had at the start,
Will always be a puppy in my heart
Even though you are an adult.

A Walk in the Woods

The sun’s warmth and the gentle breeze of the season made it an excellent day to just absorb nature. Here are a few of the 240 photos I took today to give you a sense of the loveliness I experienced with my husband and my puppy-dog Sasha. It was both magnificent and magical! Nature’s treasures were alive from dancing butterflies to fragrant honeysuckle.

Each of my senses were delighted! I am reminded that God’s presence is everywhere and my heart is filled with thanksgiving. I truly feel blessed! I think sometime this week I will create a painting or two based on these pictures.  Nature has such a soothing effect on the soul. I hope each of you had an equally tranquil day and may you be blessed with a glorious week.
