Why?

The question of why has often been used as an excuse. Why should I? Why bother? But, why? Why? Really, why?

My answer is, “Because I can!” And, I ask, “Why not?” I have decided it is time for me to act. No more excuses! If I can be a positive change agent and an advocate of love and kindness, I will do it any way I can with every skill and talent I posses. This is my time to make a difference! Why not take every opportunity that I can to make a difference. I have learned it doesn’t take much to make someone’s day! A little love goes a long way whether it is a genuine smile, a warm hello or holding the door open for someone.

If I can stand up for the tenderhearted, I will. If I see an injustice, I will speak up. If I do not speak up, then I am essentially contributing to the negativity! Our time to act is now! If not now, when? We can no longer sit around and ask why; we need to act. I invite you to be love and kindness wherever and however you can. Then watch it grow tenfold in the world. The more positive energy we put out there, the more we will get back. It is really that simple.

Character Matters

Personality is and does something…It is what lies behind specific acts and within the individual. ~Gordon Allport

A person’s personality is characterized by what specific acts a person is comfortable doing. It is who he or she is. Should one be conscientious of his or her actions? Only that individual can answer that question.

Actions that promote love and compassion in the world will be more welcomed than those acts that do not.  However, each person needs to be true to their own heart and do what feels genuine. That being said, positive energy breeds more positive energy. Love and kindness create more love and kindness. (Negative emotion and energy will also create more negative emotion and energy). Generally, what people put out in the world, they will in return experience.

If people put out love and joy, then love and joy will echo back to them. I invite you to try it; but, do so because you want to do so. Sincerity is key.

Praise

Why is it so hard at times to accept praise? It is odd that it is easier to give praise than to receive it. Why have we been taught to be so humble? Praise should be embraced and cherished! There is nothing more satisfying to the giver of praise than seeing animated appreciation and gratitude with a resounding, “oh! thank you so much!” as opposed to a humble and shy, “oh, you shouldn’t have” or “really? thank you”. When one takes time to really show their appreciation for being noticed; people are going to notice that person more because they get delight in the praise, too! Keep in mind that most people do not praise others unless they are genuine about it. Give them the satisfaction that you appreciate the praise and shower the giver with gratitude and then pay the praise forward. Oh, what fun that would be.

When we praise each other it lifts the spirit almost as much as does when we praise God. Praise is a joyful experience that should be shared and relished. Celebrate the praise and uplift others in praise. Make certain, however it is not false praise. The undertones of false praise is negative and the intention of false praise will not go unnoticed. Praise needs to be sincere and genuine. The positive energy with true praise is great. One can feel it. Praise is an outward expression of love and kindness. Each and every person is praiseworthy at least sometime in his or her life. All the more reason for people to celebrate the praise when it is showered upon them. True praise takes a person’s spirit to a higher level of energy.

Generosity (post for February 4)

Generosity can be defined as being in the state of giving or sharing. It is the deliberate and joyful sharing spirit, where one is open to giving time, love, talent, knowledge and tangible, material things and resources. Basically a generous spirit shares! Sharing is joyfully allowing or permitting something that belongs to a person (or rather something that a person has, because nothing truly belongs to us) and letting another being or group of beings have it.

A loving and generous being shares positive energy along with anything tangible when things are shared with love and joy. But, suppose, one shares negative energy like anger or grief? Would that be considered generous, too? Is it a positive action to do? Consider this scenario, when one releases his or her negative energies, what is left? The answer is positive energy.  Now, this does not imply that one should share negative energy with another person or creature unless you have volunteer, because sometimes a friend will lend support in this way like a shoulder to cry. One can share negative energy through art, writing, music, dance or any creative activity.  Sometimes negative energy generously fuels creativity and that is a positive  and healing event.

Generosity in its most positive light has many rewards. When a person shares his or her time, talent, knowledge and resources, often that person will have these reciprocated. Is that not the secret to the law of abundance? Generosity without negative attachments or expectations produces an outcome where the giver will receive the joy and happiness of having the opportunity to be generous; furthermore, the giver will most likely be rewarded with love, appreciation and possibly something that is tangible.

The beauty of having a generous spirit is that a person does not have to be monetarily wealthy to give or to share. A sentient being can be generous with his or her time, knowledge and talents. Through sharing time, knowledge and talents with other sentient beings, people will find themselves enriched through the experiences of interacting with other people.  Consider how generosity can play a significant role in people’s lives and imagine our world filled with generosity.
