New Beginnings

NewBeginnings

As we kickoff a new school year in my hometown, I like to give myself a clean slate… A NEW BEGINNING. Starting Monday, September 1st, I am challenging myself to create consistently and regularly in many areas of my life. I will be expanding my imaginative spirit in art, writing and grate-full living. I plan on documenting my progress this year in writing, in expressive art, in photography and video.

The THEME I have chosen for SEPTEMBER is NEW BEGINNINGS; and the prompt for week 1 is: EXPLORING LINES.

As I embark on this creative journey, I will share my writing and grate-full living experiences here on A Kiss of Bliss; and, I will share my artwork and art techniques on Blissful Art.

You are invited to join me. You can share your progress in the comments here on my blog or join my Facebook group – Art, Buddies And Creativity: www.facebook.com/groups/ArtBuddiesAndCreativity.  You can also subscribe to my YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/AKOrobko where I will be posting videos of my journey. Not a Luxury….a NECESSITY!

I need to remind myself, as I am sure many of you need to do as well, that rest and relaxation are a necessity, not a luxury. Funny thing is if we keep going and going without scheduling time for ourselves to recharge and rejuvenate, it will catch up to us in the form of illness. Then you have no choice but to recuperate.

When we do not take care of ourselves first, then we end up not being able to take care of anybody including ourselves. It truly is an act of kindness to everyone by scheduling the time to pamper yourself . That time is an investment, an insurance policy. Self-love and self-care assures that you will be healthy and in good spirits. This will allow you to be the best you can be for your loved ones and your colleagues at work. I hope you were able to take a little time for yourself this weekend.

It is sort of like chores. If you do a little each day, it is a piece of cake. If you keep putting chores off, then it becomes burdensome and overwhelming. A little respite every day, keeps you healthy in every way!

Bare Necessities!

When we take care of our bare necessities…nutrition, fitness, rest and engaging activities, then we are re-energized and inspired to nurture others.
~ Dr. Angela Kowitz Orobko

I was able to truly take care of myself today, especially in the area of resting. I have been going and going and going like the Energizer bunny. Recharging my batteries did wonders for me today!

Now I feel like I can take on my tasks with a blissful heart and move forward in all my projects. It feels great. Are you taking care of your bare necessities?  How is your nutritional intake? Are you getting in some fitness training? Are you getting enough sleep? What engaging activities are inspiring you? Sometimes it is good to check-in with yourself and make certain you are getting everything you need.

Tomorrow is the kick-off to another school year for our grade-school aged children. Some have already started school. This is a fabulous time to re-evaluate ourselves and our families. May it be a blessed year for all our loved ones in the school systems. May it be filled with wonderful and engaging activities that will inspire our children to be the best they can be. I know our God will watch over the children and all those involved in their lives, and be there for them as they are receptive.

Nurture…our hearts and our friendships with joy and love.

Nurture…feed, protect, support, encourage…our hearts and our friendships with joy and love. ~ Dr. Angela Kowitz Orobko

I define nurture in this passage as: to feed and protect; to support and encourage; foster.  For our own well-being and that of the world it is important to nurture our friendships as well as our own hearts. I believe I can do both, nurture my heart and my friendships, at the same time.  Spending time with friends, socializing, eating, drinking and being merry supports and encourages love and joy in our hearts.

The hearts of our friends as well as our own hearts are being nurtured as we spend time together and simply being in the moment with each other by giving our undivided attentions to each other.  Every moment we have is a blessing that should be fully appreciated.  Sharing these precious moments with others is a great way to appreciate those moments and nurture our own hearts as well as the hearts of our friends.  Friendship is a form of love that deserves to be nurtured.

I will nurture my heart by feeding it joy and protecting it from negative feelings. I will support and encourage my heart with only those activities that I take delight. I will foster happiness in my life. This will nurture me! By nurturing me, I can nurture my friends and the world.  Self-care is so important. It is vital that we do not neglect ourselves. How are we able to take care of others when we are not taking care of ourselves? By NURTURING, feeding, protecting, supporting, encouraging, our hearts and our friendships with joy and love.
